The Sentinel Of My Library

No comments:

Thoth is an Egyptian god… ibis headed (sometimes depicted with the head of a baboon… well, how rude is that?!)

One of the important gods of the Egyptian pantheon, Thoth is also a great scribe. He is often depicted with a stylus.

Thoth played many vital and prominent roles in Egyptian mythology, such as maintaining the universe, and being one of the two deities (the other being Ma'at, who was also his wife) who stood on either side of Ra's boat. In the later history of ancient Egypt, Thoth became heavily associated with the arbitration of godly disputes, the arts of magic, the system of writing, the development of science, and the judgment of the dead.

Considering Thoth’s affiliation to knowledge, the written word and wisdom… I have this statuette of Thoth guarding my library!  He was a gift my uncle was given on a tour of Egypt… but he found the statuette grotesque and believed that this was one of the guardians of the tombs.

I corrected his mistake and told him why Thoth is important… and a nice god to have around. But, he wasn’t convinced much about the nicety of a god with a sharp beak.
I love the statuette and he said I could keep it… and so here he is…

Little Iris and little Ivy are twins. One's a wee larger than the other. Iris has a teeny weeny beauty spot.... and that's how you know her. They are the cutest ones... so cute that you just can't get enough of them. ;)
And they belong to me... :D

I had a photo-shoot for them...and here they are... in all their chubby glory!

Junk Jewellery

This is what happens when I am wella...
I was clearing my dresser (packing stuff) and I came across this collection of rings. Yes, they are a result of my mood-enhancing shopping impulses. Hadn't laid my eyes on some of them for quite a while.

Thought it would be fun to wear each one of them and click a snap... and that also allowed me to try out the Tilt-Shift effect on my Galaxy S2.

Here they are... colourful and all blinged up...

I know that posting here hasn't been regular.

Well, there are a few reasons for it... I do have a lot to say but am busy with all the packing and heartache and bodyache that is part and parcel of relocation (this time to another country).

Also, my stupid laptop has conked off (Again! *rolls eyes*)... I am not going to take it for repair(s) until I reach Bombay. It isn't that I dont trust Kuwait to repair my laptop... it is just too much work... and not to mention, more expensive than it should be (yeah... am miserly that way).

By the way... quick update... Me watched Sherlock Holmes - A Game of Shadows and Agneepath with the Nawaab. I would put up something on that soon (and that means after the 11th of February).

Ah well... I just had this itch to write something and so I put up this post... :D
Now, am gonna go back to listening to poetry recited by the Nawaab. :)

Aural Intoxication!

No comments:
Intoxicated by the voice... on a high ever since I first heard it over the phone...
There is depth and a poignance and then there is a hint of masti... a bit of impish humor and don't know about others but when the Nawaab Saheb speaks to me... there is love in his voice.

I could listen to his voice for hours... never get bored of it. That he never speaks anything but sensible, intelligent stuff is an added bonus. But, the fact is that had he been saying absoute gibberish... I would still be mesmerized... still be enthralled and still would be totally swayed.

Hum par toh inki aawaaz ka nasha chaaya hua hain...

Here's a piece from Sharaabi in his...ufff... breathtaking voice.
